For Sale: 1982 BMW Motorcycle in Rowlett, Texas for sale in Rowlett, TX

Vehicle Description BMW needed something to compete with the sharp edged mid sized 4-stroke sport bikes coming out of Japan, especially Yamaha's SECA 650 and Kawasaki's GPZ 550.
Their answer was to take their R65 platform and dress it up for tearing up the backroads.
It was a short lived offering, running from 1982-1985, producing less than 6400 total units.
It's relative lack of success in the market place makes it all the more intriguing today for BMW fans and anyone looking for a fun easy ride that is still up for covering lots of ground.
As a scaled down version of BMW's bigger twin cylinder motorcycles, it shares the impeccable handling and control that only a horizontally opposed engine can deliver.
This R65 LS was purchased from the widow of the second owner.
It has been kept completely original and has lots of documentation of dealer maintenance from the first owner and receipts for parts by the DIY second owner.
After acquiring the bike it was given fresh tires, fluids and a front shock reseal.
This bike starts right up and runs out perfectly.
Everything is in working order.
It's not a large bike, weighing in at only 417 pounds gives its 50 horsepower a chance to move this bike quickly down the road.
Its very stable at speed and the low center of gravity is confidence inspiring when out corner carving and with the dual front Brembo disc brakes it can be hauled down in a hurry.
The seating position is class leading, earning it iron butt kudos on the long runs, which with a 6 gallon tank is a realistic undertaking.
Compared to those slick inline fours from Japan the BMW looks, well like a BMW, which for some will never make the grade.
But for those who understand why BMW has stuck to the formula right up to the present day this little street fighter will deliver the goods.
This classic BMW Motorcycle is located in Rowlett, Texas and is offered as is where is.
